Plot

Set in the not-too-distant future, within the bustling cityscape of Heartland, Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal narrates the engrossing tale of Yuma Tsukumo. Yuma, a fledgling duelist, dreams of clinching the title of Duel Monsters Champion, notwithstanding his novice status. In the midst of a heated duel with a schoolyard tyrant, Yuma encounters a mystifying spirit, Astral, who aids him in securing victory. Astral reveals his quest for his lost memories, cryptically embodied in 99 elusive Xyz Monsters cards, known as Numbers. These cards, scattered to the four winds, hold power over their respective duelists, drawing out their deepest, often malevolent desires. To regain his fragmented memories, Astral forges an alliance with Yuma to retrieve these potent Numbers cards. Harnessing the formidable power of Zexal, Yuma and Astral must outwit and outplay the cunning Numbers Hunters. These ruthless adversaries have their sights set on the Numbers cards, aiming to obliterate Astral's home realm. Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal spins a web of friendship, ambition and high-stakes dueling, promising a thrilling ride in the world of Duel Monsters.
