At the heart of this vibrant community are Obeni and Seiji, a caring elder sister and her spirited younger brother, who manage Izumoya, a distinctive rental shop. What sets Izumoya apart from others is its peculiar inventory of Tsukumogami; everyday objects that have metamorphosed into sentient spirits after a century-long existence. The remarkable ability of the siblings to see and converse with these spirits adds a whimsical twist to their business. They occasionally loan these spirited items to customers, adding a touch of enchantment to their lives. News of the siblings' unique abilities and their spirited inventory spreads, drawing other Tsukumogami into Izumoya.
