As the fiery summer of 1941 blazes on, the shadow of the Nazis looms menacingly over Kyiv, setting the city's veins ablaze with escalating tension. Amidst this turmoil, the city's finest investigator, Ivan Rokotov from the Kyiv Military Prosecutor's Office, is thrust into a vortex of mounting complications. A sudden whirlwind from Moscow in the form of Deputy Chief Military Prosecutor of the Red Army, Nikolai Mirsky, shakes up the status quo, infusing a new vigor into the front's military prosecutor's office with a special department under his command. Rokotov finds himself partnered with Svetlana Elagina, a former investigator from Dnepropetrovsk UGRO, in this new department. Tasked with probing into pressing cases, they must tread the razor's edge between the tumultuous front line and the increasingly restive city. From Rokotov, a former high-school student, to the passionate Komsomol Yelagina, their journey towards reconciling their inherent differences and forging a formidable team under relentless pressure is fraught with challenges. As they grapple with overt and covert adversaries, fighting for the survival of their city, Ivan and Svetlana discover their professional camaraderie evolving into a deeper connection. Amid the constant dance with death, they find a burgeoning love burgeoning in the battlefield's margins.
