Plot

In the enthralling saga of The Thorn Birds, Jeong-Eun, an orphaned young woman, navigates a world fraught with longing for the mother who left her at birth. She finds solace in her bond with Young-Jo, a fellow soul who also knows the sting of maternal absence, a connection that stirs jealous ire in Yoo-Gyeong, Jeong-Eun's close friend. While Jeong-Eun spends her days gracing the stage as a part-time actress and waiting for a maternal reunion, Yoo-Gyeong, caught in the throes of her own ambition, fights to carve her niche as a film director. She crosses paths with Young-Jo, now revealed as a wealthy heir, and succumbs to the allure of his fortune, seducing him and falling pregnant. However, her aspirations lead her to sever ties with Young-Jo when he renounces his inheritance. In a twist of fate, Yoo-Gyeong, plagued by a difficult labor and forced into premature birth, adopts the name "Jeong-Eun". She finds her biological mother, only to abandon her, along with her newborn, due to the stark reality of her mother’s poverty and sickness. Jeong-Eun, desperate for the warmth of family, embraces the abandoned child and seeks out Yoo-Gyeong's mother, Myung-Ja, unknowingly altering the course of her destiny as she steps into the shoes of the daughter Myung-Ja lost.
