England’s House of Tudor was founded in 1485 and held power through 1603. No reign among British dynastical monarchs was more tumultuous and historically significant than that of Henry VIII. Famous for marrying six wives and beheading two of them, Henry also engaged his nation in numerous wars with France, Scotland and Ireland's Gaelic lords. Cruel and vain, yet brilliant and charismatic, the times of Henry VIII are dramatized in this series featuring opulent costuming, the violence of war, illicit sexual encounters and the intricate political scheming that characterized the rule of one of England’s most colorful monarchs.
