St. Maik (2018)

In the wake of a narrow escape from the law, the cunning trickster Maik Schäfer trades his counterfeit conductor's attire for the more convincing garb of a parish priest. He finds himself unexpectedly cast into the heart of Läuterberg's Catholic community, impersonating the absent Vicar Sanman. Thrust into the midst of the parishioners' lives, Maik navigates their trials and triumphs, applying his own unorthodox methods to their issues. Simultaneously, he is burdened with the responsibility of aiding his brother, entangled in the dangerous underworld of Berlin, owing a hefty 50,000 Euro debt to a ruthless gangster due to a botched drug deal. To settle this debt, Maik plots to secure the parish's revered, yet closely guarded, monstrance. As if the stakes weren't high enough already, Maik finds himself under the watchful eye of Eva Hellwarth, the choir teacher who also serves as a police officer. Her interest in Läuterberg's new vicar is not quite the kind he had anticipated, adding another twist to his already intricate ruse.
