Plot

Embark on an unparalleled undersea journey through time with our fearless guide in "Sea Monsters" (2003). This aquatic odyssey traverses millions of years, diving into seven distinct prehistoric seas teeming with an array of extraordinary marine life. Each era presents a new challenge to our intrepid explorer, starting with the Triassic period, 230 million years ago. Here, he dares to encounter and feed a colossal six-metre nothosaur and the uniquely serpent-necked tanystropheus. The expedition pushes further into the past, 400 million years ago, a time when terrestrial plants were still in their evolutionary infancy. The primordial oceans of this epoch are a hunting ground for the gargantuan sea scorpions and the even more daunting 12-metre long orthocones, armed with menacing tentacles. How will our expert navigate these chilling waters, teeming with these terrifying ancient beasts? The journey reaches its climax in the late Cretaceous period, a time when the ocean was at its deadliest. Here, our explorer faces the ultimate undersea terror, the mighty mosasaur. This 20-metre leviathan, equipped with a jaw powerful enough to snap a tree in half, ruled the seas. Will our presenter survive these treacherous waters? Tune in to "Sea Monsters" for a captivating look into our planet's prehistoric marine life.
