Plot
When Julius Caesar returns from Gaul in 49 B.C. as a conquering hero, he challenges the Roman establishment, crushes the powerful elites of the Republic and establishes himself as emperor. The events of the times are played out in this sweeping historical drama from the viewpoints of both the high and mighty and ordinary citizenry of Rome.
