Real Humans (2012)

In a slightly alternative universe of present-day Sweden, people live side-by-side with highly advanced robots called Hubots. They are almost indistinguishable from real people. They work as servants, laborers and companions –- including sex companions. The Hubot presence has society strongly divided. Most people like the robots, but conservative groups want them eliminated because they fear the artificial people may eventually rebel or turn the tables on their human masters. Although the Hubots are programmed to be obedient and docile, troubling behaviors among some suggest they may be developing true higher self-reflective consciousness and will soon fight for their freedom.
