Black Mirror (2011)
“The future is bright.”
Plot
This anthology series devotes each hour-long episode to a new story in a new universe, but all of them are unified by the theme of technology in the 21st century. There's a uniquely British spin to the dystopian fiction that dominates the series, and there's an understandable obsession with the surveillance state that reflects both the United Kingdom's surveillance laws and the growth of dangerous new technologies. In an attempt to pierce what's happening in the present and potentially map out dark futures of what could be, the show explores the impact of everything from drone assassinations to social media integration to virtual reality.
