Pørni (2021)

At the heart of Pørni's chaotic existence, lies the relentless pursuit of balance. Striving to do right by everyone else before herself, Pørni navigates the turbulent waters of her life. Her ex-husband, a self-absorbed drifter, has left her solely responsible for their two daughters, while he enjoys his new life in Copenhagen. Amidst her struggle to mother, she's also the reluctant guardian of her 15-year-old nephew, a role thrust upon her when her sister tragically perished in a car accident. The complexities of her life extend to her father, who is experiencing some sort of adolescent resurgence, further complicating her role as a caregiver. Amidst this whirlpool of responsibilities, Pørni also shoulders an intense job in child welfare, where she nurses a soft spot for the county lawyer, Bjørnar. Pørni is more than just a tale of survival against life's relentless tide. It's about a woman striving to maintain her completeness amidst the myriad challenges of her 'ordinary' life. It's about Pørni and her struggle to keep her head above water, all while yearning for more than just the breath of relief.
