Pilot Candidate (2000)

In a future where the expanse of humanity has reached far and wide across the cosmos, an ominous alien threat, known as Victim, relentlessly besieges the human colonies. Their onslaught leaves only one bastion of hope, the solitary planet, Zion. Mankind's survival teeters on the precipice of extinction, but standing against the tide of annihilation are the Ingrids, five colossal fighting robots, also known as The Goddesses. These mechanical marvels are Zion's formidable shield, but they require a unique kind of warrior to command them. In response to this crisis, the training institution GOA is established. Its mission is to scout and prepare boys from Zion's colonies, who harbor a rare blood type, EO, and a special ability, the EX, to become the esteemed pilots of The Goddesses. Among these hopefuls is Zero, Candidate 88, a newcomer to GOA who surprisingly finds himself in the cockpit of the Ingrid Eeva-Leena. A precarious sync between pilot and Ingrid could spell doom, yet, on the brink of unconsciousness, Zero achieves a full synchronization. His unexpected success is shrouded in mystery, but there's no time to unravel it as his rigorous training regime commences. With the fate of Zion riding on their shoulders, Zero and his fellow pilot candidates find themselves in a desperate race against time and an unforgiving enemy. Their journey is fraught with challenges, but they must rise as Zion's last line of defense. The survival of humanity rests in the hands of these chosen few.
