Amid the throes of a quarter-life crisis, Nicky Shen, a young Chinese-American woman, trades the lecture halls of her college for the tranquil solitude of an isolated monastery in China. This life-altering journey sees her mastering martial arts and imbibing the noble values of Shaolin. Upon her return, however, she finds her hometown in the vice-like grip of crime and corruption. With her newly-acquired skills and the wisdom of Shaolin, Nicky transforms into a beacon of hope for her beleaguered community. She wields her martial prowess to shield her neighbors from the malignant forces that threaten their peace, meting out justice where law enforcement has failed. But her battle is twofold. A shadowy assassin, responsible for the death of her Shaolin mentor, lurks in the darkness, his sights set on Nicky.
