His investigation leads him to an unusual boy, forsaken by society and carrying the nickname "Dorota-bou", a moniker inspired by a mud-dwelling yokai. This peculiar child, who toils in the fields instead of attending school, finds an unlikely companion in Inugami. The two form a bond that aids in unveiling the macabre mystery of the overnight rot.
