Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell (2015)

Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell takes place in England in the middle of the Napoleonic Wars. This is an alternative history in which magic is known about but it is not practiced very much. Two strangers, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Gilbert Norrell begin to bring back this ancient practice in hopes of making England better able to fight the war. The much lauded seven part series was originally aired on the BBC. Based on the work of Susanna Clarke, the novel and the television series focuses on both fictional characters and real life people such as the Duke of Wellington.
