Plot

In the year 526 of the Liturgical calendar, magic is a known, yet feared entity, casting a shadow across the world. Amidst the turmoil, our tale unfurls around an outwardly monstrous yet inwardly kind-hearted mercenary, a being of dual nature, half-man, half-beast. Mockingly referred to as a "fallen beast" by his human counterparts, this tormented soul yearns for the day he can shed his beastly exterior and embrace a fully human existence. His life takes an unexpected turn when he crosses paths with a peculiar witch named Zero. Despite his deep-seated loathing for witches, sparked by a relentless witch-hunter on his trail, the mercenary finds himself inexplicably drawn to Zero's proposal. She promises to restore his coveted humanity, but not without a price. The task? To aid her in reclaiming a stolen treasure, a magical tome known as 'The Book of Zero.' The grimoire, a potent source of arcane knowledge, holds the power to simplify spell-casting, making it dangerously accessible. Its words hold the potential to shatter the world order, and in the wrong hands, reduce the world to ruins. However, for the mercenary, it's a beacon of hope, a chance to regain his lost human form. As the unlikely duo embarks on their perilous journey, the mercenary must wrestle with his prejudice against witches and the mounting risks. Will he overcome his resentment, brave the hazards, and aid Zero in her quest? Will he finally attain the humanity he so desperately craves, or will his journey expose him to truths far more profound than he ever bargained for? This is a tale of a haughty sorceress and a kindhearted beast, a multifaceted narrative that explores the complexities of identity, destiny, and the unanticipated bonds forged in the face of adversity.
