Tara Webster, a farm girl from Sydney, has always dreamt of soaring beyond her horizons. Instead, she finds herself pirouetting into the world of dance. At the tender age of fifteen, she steps into the prestigious halls of Sydney's National Dance Academy, and her dreams collide with reality. Tara is thrust into a whirlwind of relentless classes, stringent teachers, and cutthroat competition, where she quickly realizes she's not the prima ballerina she dreamt of being. In this dance-fuelled battleground, she finds solace in her friends - Kat, an outgoing dancer unshackled by convention, Sammy, a geeky Jewish boy with an unwavering passion for ballet, and Christian, a brooding hip-hop dancer with a disarming charm. She develops a crush on Ethan, the academy's heartthrob, and navigates a complex relationship with Abigail, a perfectionist competitor. Yet, the journey to her dream - a place in the company - is not just about ballet positions and graceful pirouettes. As she pliés and arabesques through this newfound world, Tara grapples with heartbreak, love, friendship turmoil, and even physical injuries.
