Catfishing is the act of leading someone online under a false identity for romantic purposes, and it's something that Nev Schulman knows all too well. He documented his own catfishing and his complicated emotional response to it already, and he brings a context of sympathy and understanding in his attempts to hunt down potential catfish subjects. Nev and his friend Max Joseph put their investigative skills to work figuring out everything they can about their mysterious subjects and try to negotiate a meeting between the two online lovers.
