Plot
James Cole's existence as a scavenger picking through a post-apocalyptic future makes the proposal offered to him by a group of scientists appealing. Project Splinter wants to send him back to the time just before the apocalyptic event and report the circumstances back home so that they can help put a stop to it. It's a desperate mission only made the more desperate by the fact that the time travel method is uncertain and imperfect. James' only clue as to what caused the world-ending pandemic is a recurring piece of graffiti referencing the 12 Monkeys. But as he digs deeper, he realizes nothing is what it seems.
