In the shadowy harbor of New York, a seemingly abandoned sailboat drifts ominously, offering no sign of life but harboring a terrifying secret: a lone zombie, eager to feast on human flesh. This spectral vessel belongs to a renowned scientist who has mysteriously vanished in the Antilles. His desperate daughter, Anne Bowles, enlists the help of the daring journalist, Peter West, to uncover the chilling truth behind her father's disappearance. Their quest for answers leads them to Brian Hull, an erudite ethnologist, and the enigmatic Susan Barrett, who agree to accompany them on their perilous journey. The quartet embarks on a voyage that takes them to the heart of the Antilles, to the lush yet foreboding Matul Island. Here, they encounter Dr. David Menard, a man caught in a desperate race against time, striving to find a cure for an unspeakable disease. Matul Island, once a tropical paradise, is now a nightmare realm where the dead refuse the tranquility of the grave. The islanders, victims of a horrifying illness, are being transformed into indestructible zombies, their once peaceful lives replaced by a monstrous hunger for human flesh. As the menace grows, our intrepid explorers are drawn deeper into a struggle for survival, where they must confront the terrifying reality of a world in which death may be a mercy they can no longer afford.
