Plot

Set against the backdrop of college sports, Youngstown Boys unravels a riveting tale of class, power, and redemption. It traces the interwoven journeys of Maurice Clarett, an electrifying running back, and the esteemed coach, Jim Tressel. Both hail from different sides of the tracks in Youngstown, Ohio, their paths converging in a magical 2002 season at Ohio State University that culminates in the school's first national football championship in over three decades. However, this triumphant narrative takes a dramatic turn as Clarett, once a dynamic force on the field, is expelled from the football realm, plunging into a tragic spiral that concludes with a prison sentence. Simultaneously, Tressel, the architect of this victorious era, continues to uphold his position at Ohio State for eight more years, only to have his venerated career tarnished by scandal. In the aftermath of their respective downfalls, these two Youngstown Boys find themselves at a crossroads, grappling with their past and striving to reinvent their futures. This feature documentary is a testament to their resilience and determination, capturing their attempts to resurrect their lives from the ashes of their former glory. Youngstown Boys is an exploration of the human spirit, a poignant saga of downfall, redemption, and the relentless pursuit of second chances.
