Plot

In the chilling depths of a snowy Minnesota town, a heavily pregnant and recently widowed Francesca Kinsolving embarks on a daunting journey. Struggling with the loss of her husband, an Army combatant who met his untimely death in the Vietnam war, she resolves to meet her enigmatic mother-in-law, a woman shrouded in icy unfamiliarity. This voyage of connection is also one of discovery, as Francesca is yet to meet her late husband's family, a circumstance that adds a layer of profound unease to her anticipatory dread. Upon arrival, Francesca's tentative hopes of acceptance are met with a chilly reception as cold as the blizzard that soon engulfs the remote homestead. Stranded in the midst of this relentless tempest, a sense of looming danger is further intensified, trapping her in a harsh winter's tale that transcends the physical chill. As the storm rages on, Francesca finds herself entwined in a web of terrifying truths that her mother-in-law has diligently concealed. An eerie sense of dread seizes the house, as Francesca learns of an escaped psychotic sibling, a hidden resident in the basement, whose presence sends icy tremors of fear coursing through her veins. In this frosty Minnesota setting, the serene snowscape outside belies the sinister secrets within. As Francesca delves deeper into her late husband's family's past, she realizes that the chilling blizzard outside may not be the deadliest thing she has to contend with. Amid the biting cold and the paralyzing fear, Francesca's survival hangs in the balance as she navigates this horrifying labyrinth of family secrets.
