Yentl (1983)

Set in the quaint Eastern European village of 1904, the fiery-spirited Yentl finds herself caught in the rigid confines of her Jewish traditions. Orphaned and alone, Yentl's only inheritance from her father, Reb Mendel, is an insatiable thirst for knowledge and an illicit familiarity with the Talmud - a realm of wisdom reserved exclusively for men.
