XX/XY (2002)

When a casual get-together transforms into a passionate, yet clumsy encounter for two college acquaintances, Sam and Thea, and a charming stranger, Coles, an electrifying bond emerges from the ashes of that night. As they daringly blur the lines of their friendship with sensuous undertones, the dynamic is strained with the budding romance between Sam and Coles, and Thea's escalating impetuousness. A whirlwind of fear, bitterness, and doubt gradually erodes their relationship, leaving it in a nebulous limbo. Fast forward eight years. Coles, now crafting animations for a prestigious advertisement firm, shares a home with his long-term girlfriend, Claire. Thea basks in marital bliss with Miles, co-owning a thriving restaurant while Sam, fresh from a broken engagement in London, finds her way back to Manhattan. The past refuses to stay buried when the trio reunites, pulling them back into the labyrinth of complex emotions and tension that once defined them. As they navigate the murky waters of their renewed connection, they are compelled to face the profound question of what commitment and love truly mean.
