Plot

Amidst the tumultuous times of the Tang Dynasty, during the "Zhen Guan" era under Emperor Taizong's reign, a youthful monk named Xuan Zang dares to venture on an audacious quest for Buddhist wisdom. His path to India, the heart of Buddhism, is strewn with formidable trials, perilous dangers, and the raw suffering of the masses. He faces the stiff resistance of soldiers, the sting of betrayal from his disciples, and the relentless harshness of desert terrains. Xuan Zang's journey becomes a test of endurance as resources dwindle, and food and water become scarce. Yet, his unwavering resolve guides him through these tribulations in pursuit of the Buddha's teachings. Upon reaching India, Xuan Zang immerses himself in Buddhist studies, his spirit unbroken by the challenges he had faced. After years of rigorous learning, a matured Xuan Zang returns to China at the age of 50, enriched with profound knowledge and deep understanding. His journey, though fraught with hardships, illuminates his path to enlightenment and his enduring commitment to Buddhism.
