Wild Honey Pie! (2018)

In the quaint seaside town just a stone's throw from Cardiff, we find Gillian, the English-born dreamer, and Oliver, her Welsh husband, a DJ with ambitions bigger than his vinyl collection. They're not exactly newlyweds anymore, but neither have they fully fledged from the marital nest of their early 30s. Their abode, a charming house owned by Oliver's mother, Janet, is a magnet for cash-strapped AirBnB wanderers. Their life, much like their home, is a tapestry of beautiful chaos and unfulfilled dreams. Oliver's life revolves around spinning records, not only at the local club once a week but also at the occasional wedding. His earnings may be negligible, but his dreams are colossal. Gillian, on the other hand, is a playwright in the making, directing a self-penned production about a young married couple grappling with self-realization. Much like their worn-out record player, their journey to understand themselves and each other is filled with skips and repeats. The couple shares an intellectual compatibility and a shared love for absurdist humor, giving them a bond that's as sturdy as an old vinyl. Yet, beneath the surface of their quirky camaraderie, there's a simmering dissatisfaction. Their marriage is caught in the throes of the infamous Seven Year Itch, and Gillian finds their love life as monotonous as a repeated song track. They're a neurotic pair, itching to scratch their marital monotony until it bleeds, seeking an enigmatic melody in their symphony of the ordinary.
