When an intrepid documentary crew receives funding to delve into the grim reality of a rare, fatal disease plaguing the homeless, they soon find the subject matter too bleak for their lens. Seeking respite in the neon-lit allure of a Manhattan nightclub, they become enraptured by a vibrant young comedienne, her spirit and dreams offering a stark contrast to their initial project.
Compelled by her ambition and talent, the team decides to shadow her journey to Hollywood, documenting her pursuit of a coveted TV pilot through the labyrinth of auditions in the sun-soaked city of Los Angeles.
