White Elephant (2012)

In the gritty heart of Buenos Aires, nestled within the sprawling labyrinth of the "Villa Virgin" shantytown, two steadfast priests and long-time companions, Julian and Nicolas, strive against the odds to uplift their beleaguered community. Julian, blessed with the gift of political persuasion, champions the construction of a much-needed hospital. He is joined in his quest by Nicolas, a soul scarred by a tragic past - his previous venture in the jungle shredded by the brutal assassination of community members by ruthless paramilitary forces. Nicolas, teetering on the precipice of despair, finds an unexpected solace in Luciana, a vibrant yet unconventional beacon of hope - a young, attractive, and fiercely atheist social worker. As Nicolas grapples with his waning faith, the slum finds itself on the edge of eruption, its fragile peace threatened by the escalating violence of rival drug cartels. The precarious balance tips when the construction of the hospital, a beacon of hope for the shantytown, is abruptly halted by an indifferent ministerial decree. As the spark of rebellion is lit, the stage is set for a story of resilience, friendship, and the struggle to preserve hope in the face of adversity.
