When Angels Sleep (2018)

In "When Angels Sleep," German, an overworked CEO of a life insurance company, finds his world spiraling out of control on the night of his daughter's birthday. Consumed by his job, he neglects his wife Sandra and their daughter, Estela, causing a painful rift in their family fabric. One fateful night, racing against time to make it home for Estela's party, he is pulled over by two Civil Guard agents. They notice his crippling exhaustion, recommending he rest at a motel to prevent a possible accident. However, German, driven by desperation and guilt, eludes the agents and continues his journey. Simultaneously, Silvia, a troubled teenager, escapes from her chaotic home to meet her friend Gloria, eventually rendezvousing with Mario and El Chato. As tensions rise, Silvia and Gloria decide to leave the car, leading to a horrific accident. German, in his fatigued state, hits Gloria with his car, catapulting the night into a nightmare of fear and uncertainty. Awakening to the grisly scene, German finds the injured Gloria and a traumatised Silvia. In a desperate attempt to rectify the situation, he rushes both girls to the hospital. Meanwhile, Sandra frantically searches for her missing husband, and Mario and El Chato seek revenge for the night's earlier altercation. Silvia, however, becomes convinced that German's intentions are malevolent, prompting her to escape. German, fearful of losing his family and facing imprisonment, chases after her, hoping to convince her of his innocence. As the night descends into chaos, "When Angels Sleep" unfolds a haunting narrative where every possible misfortune is destined to unravel, culminating in a night of terror and heartbreak that will leave every character forever changed.
