In the heart of Madrid, the chaotic world of Gloria, a cleaning lady addicted to No-Doze, unfolds. She lives in a cramped apartment with her taxi-driver husband Antonio, a clandestine forger obsessed with an aging German singer whom he once chauffeured. Their home is further crowded by their two teenage sons, one tangled in the perilous web of drug dealing and the other exploring his homosexuality. Adding to the mayhem is Gloria's eccentric mother-in-law, an insatiable consumer of bottled water and cupcakes, which she hoards and sells to the family in an absurd domestic economy. Antonio's secret passion for the German singer ignites a twisted scheme when two alcoholic writers propose he forge Hitler's memoirs. The writers envisage the singer as the ideal cover for their plot, given her infamous past connection with Nazi paraphernalia.
