Wedding in White (1972)

Set in the early 1940s, in a quaint Ontario town, the story centers around Jeannie Dougall, a naive and self-doubting sixteen-year-old. Living in the shadow of the silver screen, Jeannie's understanding of romance is shaped by the larger-than-life characters she adores, their images scattered across her bedroom wall. Jeannie's only real taste of the world comes from her best friend, Dolly, a bold girl who wears her blossoming sexuality with pride. Jeannie's life is rooted in the traditional values of her Scottish immigrant parents, Jim and Mary Dougall, who hold their faith and conservative beliefs dear. To them, every uniformed soldier, including their son Jimmie, is a hero to be revered. Jimmie, a non-combatant, serves his country at home, dealing with munitions requisitions.
