Plot

In a narrative that echoes the timeless tale of Romeo and Juliet, Viva Cuba tells the poignant story of two young friends, Malu and Jorgito, whose bond is put to the test by the stark contrasts of their social backgrounds. Born into a refined upper-class family, Malu is discouraged by her single mother from associating with Jorgito, whose humble origins she deems rough and unrefined. Conversely, Jorgito's mother, a proud socialist who values her lowly social status, imposes similar constraints on her son. In the midst of their polarizing worlds, the mothers fail to grasp the profound strength of the bond their children share. The plot thickens when Malu and Jorgito discover plans for Malu's mother to leave Cuba. Filled with determination and courage, they embark on a daring journey across the island in search of Malu's father, hoping to persuade him against signing the departure papers. Viva Cuba is a vivid portrayal of friendship, resilience, and the audacity of youthful spirit, unfolding against the vibrant backdrop of Cuban society.
