Vandal (2013)

Caught in the perpetual loop of his aimless existence, Chérif finds himself behind the wheel of a stolen car, driving endlessly in circles. With a rap sheet as long as his list of regrets, his latest run-in with the law prompts his weary mother to orchestrate a last-ditch agreement with a stern judge. As part of the deal, Chérif is sent off to live under the subdued roof of his aunt and uncle, and to enroll in a vocational school. In this humdrum setting, Chérif's pursuit of a straight path turns into a monotonous journey, threatening to drown him in tedium. However, an unexpected revelation about his seemingly straight-arrow cousin, Thomas, sparks a flicker of curiosity and excitement. Thomas, it turns out, is part of an underground gang of graffiti artists, who under the cover of darkness, claim the city's walls and overpasses as their canvas. As Chérif steps into this shadowy realm, he finds himself intrigued by the tales of an elusive and legendary tagger, whose audacious artworks echo his daring spirit. The allure of this clandestine world offers Chérif a new perspective, and possibly, a road leading away from his static life.
