Plot

In the heart of the English Channel, the "Magnificent", a monstrous supertanker boasting 400,000 tonnes of crude oil, finds herself helplessly impaled on the Casquets reef. As the clock strikes 21:07 GMT, the rocks shred through her double hull, threatening to birth yet another devastating oil slick. Across the sea, in bustling Brussels, Emma Caglione, a young and impassioned Green Member of the European Parliament, tirelessly labors over this environmental atrocity. Her discovery is alarming - the oil cargo was stealthily purchased by none other than "Oil&Co", a corporate titan led by her own father, Balthazar Paredes, a former supertanker captain with an ascendant career. This is a tale of a father and daughter, entwined in a disheartening dance of love and discord, torn between politics and familial bonds. As the weekend descends upon the quaint seaside, they find themselves united in a fleeting moment, their love illuminated by the setting sun. Emma, fueled by her unyielding idealism, takes flight in a light aircraft, only to meet a tragic end when it crashes. The world of Balthazar shatters with the loss of his beloved daughter, igniting a burning resolve to continue her investigation. Descending into the dark abyss of corporate conspiracy, Balthazar uncovers a grim truth. Oil&Co's hands are stained not just with oil but also nuclear waste, dumped remorselessly into the sea. Worse still, the tendrils of treachery reach even further, revealing Emma's death as a calculated act of malice. "Valparaiso" is thus a stirring saga of love, loss, and the relentless pursuit of truth, a relentless journey into the heart of an environmental apocalypse and a father's undying love for his daughter.
