In the heart of the wild west, Miss Hinklefink (Belle Mitchell), unexpectedly becomes the owner of a sprawling ranch. Desiring company for the summer, she extends an invitation to Professor Owen Townley (Milton Kibbee) and a lively group of students; Freddie Trimball (Freddie Stewart), Dodie and Betty Rogers (June Preisser, Noel Neill), Lee Watson (Warren Mills), and Roy Donne (Frankie Darro) to spend their vacation on the vast ranch, with the condition of the Professor's chaperoning.
However, their idyllic summer retreat is clouded by the dubious intentions of real estate agent Tom Sneed (Hugh Prosser), who attempts to sabotage their stay following a bank robbery by a band of desperadoes. Within the shadowy corners of the local saloon, Sneed's henchman Charlie (Terry Frost) confuses youthful Freddie for a notorious, baby-faced killer. The real culprit behind the murder, Sneed sets a deadly trap for Freddie through ranch foreman Big Jim (John Hart), who is secretly on his payroll.
