In the bustling heart of Mumbai, we find Ramvilas Sharma, a man freshly nursing the wounds of a broken relationship with his ex-partner, Sanjana Mahadik, a former bar dancer. Their six-month dance of love has abruptly ended, leaving Ramvilas seeking solace and advice from his confidante, Nandan Pandey, a seasoned private investigator. Guided by Nandan's counsel, Ramvilas ventures into the world of new connections, crossing paths with a homeless woman named Koel Datta. Their friendship blossoms quickly, reaching a point where he invites her into his home. However, their newfound tranquility gets disrupted when Sanjana reappears to claim her forgotten belongings and inadvertently leaves behind a bag brimming with cash. This unexpected fortune plunges their lives into a whirl of chaos, especially when the bag mysteriously disappears. Suddenly, they find themselves caught in the web of Lucky Sardana, a suave French-speaking swindler who interrogates them about the missing bag. In Utt Pataang, every character finds themselves on a rollercoaster ride of mystery, unexpected alliances, and desperate searches, leaving them and the audience questioning - where is the bag, and who truly holds the strings?
