Plot

In the bustling city of Manaos, Brazil, Tomás, a once celebrated Spanish photographer now struggling to revive his fading career, arrives with his Brazilian wife, Eva, and their young daughter, Andrea. They are here to meet an old friend and college acquaintance, Professor Enrique Díaz. Tomás is obsessively hunting the elusive albino Urubú - a bird never captured on film outside captivity. His desperate quest mirrors Captain Ahab's infamous pursuit of Moby Dick. Tomás hopes that this monumental first photograph will not only reignite his career but also mend his strained family ties, particularly with his neglected wife and increasingly distant daughter. Díaz provides them with a cabin deep in the heart of the rainforest, a remote, near-deserted location where they'll be entirely alone, save for Ceará, an aging assistant - the area's only resident. They navigate upriver to their destination under the guidance of Captain Nauta, whose interest in Eva and Andrea stirs jealousy in Tomás. Their arrival heralds the beginning of a tumultuous journey. The cabin's isolation, surrounded by the endless expanse of the rainforest, strains Eva and Tomás's relationship as they clash over Tomás's obsession with the Urubú. Andrea, too, starts exhibiting peculiar behavior, worrying Eva. The situation takes a harrowing turn when Andrea disappears on their second night at the cabin. With their radio sabotaged and their daughter missing, the couple embarks on a frantic search amidst the dense foliage, where they encounter a mysterious ruined house and hear eerie children’s voices whispering through the trees. As they separate to cover more ground, terror unfolds. Eva encounters an elderly woman in the jungle who induces hallucinations, while Tomás stumbles upon seemingly innocent children with a chilling urge to kill. In his desperate fight for survival and search for Andrea, Tomás confronts a horrific question: who can kill a child? "Urubú" is a chilling odyssey, spiraling from a desperate quest for professional redemption into a fight for survival against a backdrop of rainforest isolation and supernatural dread.
