Plot

In a not-so-distant 1999, the world teeters on the precipice of disaster. A nuclear-powered satellite, suffering from catastrophic damage, spirals uncontrollably towards Earth, threatening to set off an apocalyptic chain of events. This grand backdrop of impending doom sets the stage for an exhilarating tale of flight, discovery, and the pursuit of dreams. In the heart of France, a woman, Dommartin, finds herself entangled in a high-stakes bank robbery, transforming her into an accidental fugitive. Her path crosses with Hurt, an American on the run, who is pursued relentlessly by the CIA for a crime he protests his innocence of. The truth, he claims, is far more complex - he is the guardian of a revolutionary invention, a device that can record the very fabric of one's dreams and visions. A thrilling chase ensues, as Dommartin and Hurt form an unlikely alliance, racing against both the bank robbers desperate to secure their ill-gotten gains, and the CIA intent on seizing the extraordinary device. Their journey spans continents, culminating in the Australian outback at the research facility of Hurt's father, von Sydow. Here, they hope to redeem their fugitive lives by sharing the wondrous recordings Hurt has captured for his blind mother. "Until the End of the World" is a riveting blend of adventure, romance, and science fiction, set against the ticking clock of a world on the brink. The storyline weaves together the personal and the global, the tangible and the dreamlike, into a compelling cinematic tapestry that leaves viewers pondering the precipice of civilization and the boundless potential of human imagination.
