Plot

In the extraordinary true tale of "Two Men Went To War," we meet Sergeant Peter King, a seasoned member of the Army Dental Corps deemed too old for combat, and Private Leslie Cuthbertson, a greenhorn dental mechanic in the same regiment. Both are united by one combustible desire - to experience active warfare. Against the odds, King, armed with a pair of revolvers and a handful of grenades, convinces Cuthbertson to embark on a daring mission into enemy-occupied France. In an audacious move, King pens a letter to Sir Winston Churchill, detailing their audacious plan to infiltrate France and battle the German forces. After a series of unsuccessful attempts, they finally land on French soil, only to stumble upon a German radar station. With nerves of steel, they manage to obliterate what they presume to be the central Operations Room. But soon, they find themselves fleeing a storm of bullets and explosions, the compound teetering on the brink of chaos. Their return journey is fraught with perils, dodging German forces and a rogue mine in the Channel, before their eventual capture at sea. Branded as spies and identified as deserters, they face the grim prospect of a court-martial upon their return. Yet, fate intervenes with the timely arrival of Major Merton, Churchill's Chief Intelligence Advisor. Their letter has found its way to the corridors of power in Whitehall, and Merton verifies their incredible tale. Absolved of deceit yet chastised for their reckless conduct, King and Cuthbertson receive not just a reprimand but an unexpected invitation to tea with the Prime Minister, should they be in Whitehall. Their story is a testament to the spirit of valor and audacity, even in the unlikeliest of warriors.
