Plot

In the unforgiving desert dust, Luke Barrett awakens from unconsciousness to a startling scene— a lifeless stranger, a rifle with the word 'Dingus' etched into its stock, and a mind clouded by a bullet-induced amnesia. Struggling to recall his identity or the circumstances of his predicament, he scavenges what he can from the eerie scene and, atop a stray horse, journeys towards the nearest town, comforted only by the hope of revelation. The town's saloon, an oasis of familiarity in his barren memory, becomes his first stop. There, a mysterious figure shrouded in black recognizes him instantly, sparking off a series of perplexing conversations. Through the stranger's cryptic words and the townsfolk's startling knowledge of his past, Luke begins to unravel the tangled threads of his forgotten life. A shocking truth emerges from the murky depths of his amnesia— Luke Barrett, alongside his partner Donovan, was hired by the enigmatic stranger to assassinate Victor Barrett, a prosperous landowner who is, in a cruel twist of fate, also his brother. His reasons for accepting such a contract remain clouded, but the stranger speculates a deep-seated hatred must have fueled his agreement. As Victor rallies the local farmers, deciding whether to surrender their lands to their wealthy neighbor or the encroaching bank, Luke is drawn into a tense confrontation with his brother. Meanwhile, the stranger, armed with a sniper rifle, watches from a secluded hill, ready to strike. But as the sands of fate shift beneath their feet, both Barret brothers find their destinies veering down unforeseen paths. As fragments of his past resurface, Luke is left grappling with the revelations of his role as a paid gunslinger and the horrifying truths about his family. The road to recovery may be a double-edged sword, with each recovered memory carrying the potential for salvation or damnation. "Twice a Judas" is a poignant tale of rediscovery, familial bonds, and the merciless truths that lurk within forgotten memories.
