In the heart of America, Jeff and Amy Taylor, a couple on the brink of a new life in California, find themselves on a journey fraught with tension and danger. A hair-raising near miss with a truck on the cross-country highway is just the start of their troubles. The hostile truck driver they narrowly avoid becomes an ominous figure lurking at the edge of their story, disappearing into the dust of the road as they continue their journey. However, their trip grinds to a sudden halt as their jeep mysteriously breaks down on a desolate stretch of road. With civilization scarce and the sun beating down on the barren desert, Amy accepts a ride from a seemingly friendly trucker who offers to take her to a nearby diner to call for help. Jeff, left alone with their broken vehicle, uncovers signs of tampering with the battery connections. A sinking realization dawns on him as he fixes the issue and rushes to the diner. Arriving at the roadside refuge, Jeff is greeted with baffled faces as he asks after his wife. No one recalls seeing Amy, and an icy dread begins to creep in. Spotting the trucker on the road again, Jeff confronts him, but the man vehemently denies having ever seen the couple. Even a search of the truck, supervised by a local sheriff, yields no sign of Amy. Advised to report a missing person's case, Jeff finds himself stranded in a small town, caught in a chilling game of deception and betrayal. His beloved Amy has vanished, swept away in the searing desert winds. Now, Jeff must navigate a maze of lies and mistrust, with the haunting possibility that his wife has been kidnapped and held for ransom. In this vast, unforgiving landscape, Jeff's love for his wife will be tested, his trust in strangers shattered, and his survival instincts pushed to the limit.
