Try to Remember (2004)

In the sleepy town of Milford, a specter from the past resurfaces as Lisa Monroe, a skilled police detective, returns home after a twelve-year hiatus. Recruited by childhood friend and now Lieutenant Joe O'Conner, Lisa's return is marred by a chilling case— the mysterious death of her grandmother, Louise Dexter. Despite initial reports suggesting an accident, Lisa unearths evidence hinting at a more sinister cause, leading her to suspect Jake Mitchell of foul play. Jake Mitchell, a name that sends shivers down Lisa's spine, is the man who brutally raped and murdered her best friend, Jenny Rand, fifteen years prior. Having recently been granted parole, Mitchell has returned to Milford, carrying a vow of revenge against the four individuals who testified against him: Louise, Sergeant Stuart Kling (Lisa's colleague who undervalues her investigative prowess), a security guard named Vinnie DiCampo, and Lisa herself.
