Plot

In the sleepy town of Milford, a specter from the past resurfaces as Lisa Monroe, a skilled police detective, returns home after a twelve-year hiatus. Recruited by childhood friend and now Lieutenant Joe O'Conner, Lisa's return is marred by a chilling case— the mysterious death of her grandmother, Louise Dexter. Despite initial reports suggesting an accident, Lisa unearths evidence hinting at a more sinister cause, leading her to suspect Jake Mitchell of foul play. Jake Mitchell, a name that sends shivers down Lisa's spine, is the man who brutally raped and murdered her best friend, Jenny Rand, fifteen years prior. Having recently been granted parole, Mitchell has returned to Milford, carrying a vow of revenge against the four individuals who testified against him: Louise, Sergeant Stuart Kling (Lisa's colleague who undervalues her investigative prowess), a security guard named Vinnie DiCampo, and Lisa herself. Haunted by the ghost of guilt for not having saved Jenny all those years ago in an event that left indelible scars on their collective conscience, the four face the terrifying prospect of becoming Mitchell's next victims. Lisa's mission becomes a race against time to hunt down and stop Mitchell before he fulfills his promise of retribution. However, the case takes a chilling turn as Lisa is forced to confront that her prime suspect might not be the true perpetrator. As the body count rises, Lisa's sleuthing unravels a web of vengeance far deeper than Mitchell's grudge, leading her down a trail of secrets and betrayal. The hunt for the mystery killer becomes a personal duel, with Lisa high on the vengeance list, and the killer hell-bent on making her pay for a past she can't escape. In the face of mounting circumstantial evidence and her own tumultuous emotions, Lisa must strive for objectivity. A task easier said than done, as the shadows of her past and the threat of a relentless killer make "Try to Remember" a gripping tale of suspense, regret, and the quest for justice.
