In the heart of China, 1861, the renowned Qing dynasty general, Su Qi-Er, hangs up his war-torn mantle to chase a dream of tranquility. He desires a simple life, surrounded by family and imparting his wisdom at his own martial arts school. However, the serenity Su seeks is swiftly shattered by the sinister claws of betrayal when his adopted brother, Yuan Lie, fueled by vengeance, kidnaps his son and leaves him at the brink of death. Miraculously, Su is saved from the jaws of mortality by his devoted wife Ying and the reclusive doctor Yu. This near-death experience fuels Su's unwavering resolve to hone his martial arts technique to its pinnacle.
