In the verdant fields of Salcedo, where privilege is as common as the rustling leaves, are born three gallant women - Patria, Minerva, and Maria Teresa, hailed as the Mirabal Sisters. Their lives, however, are not framed by tranquility but by the ruthless rule of the despot, Rafael Leonidas Trujillo Molina. This man, with his iron grip, has choked the Dominican Republic into submission since 1930. Yet, within this narrative of oppression, Tropic of Blood unveils the audacious defiance of the Mirabal sisters. Alongside their allies and kinsmen, they dare to challenge the tyrant and his merciless regime. This act of undaunted courage, however, gives way to a sequence of tragic repercussions.
