Plot

In the bustling heart of Mumbai, Rahul, a city dweller, sets off alongside his companion Amar Singh, bound for the remote village of Bhedia. Their journey's purpose: to partake in the wedding festivities of Amar's sister, Supriya. En route, Rahul's gaze alights upon a young woman, her beauty so arresting that he falls hopelessly in love, despite the heartrending revelation of her predetermined fate. This village, steeped in archaic tradition, has designated her future as a courtesan, a sordid reality endorsed by the local law enforcement and wealthy landlords. Haunted by her image, Rahul seeks the aid of Manghi, a local procurer, and discovers her name – Bela. She resides with her parents, Paro and Mangatram, who are ready to auction her innocence to the highest bidder. Despite the grim circumstances, Rahul manages to meet Bela in secret, and a clandestine love story blossoms amidst the darkness. However, their love is a threat to the village's way of life, as the male villagers rely on the grim flesh trade for survival. The community, feeling threatened, organizes an urgent Panchayat Meeting. The deliberations are brief, the judgment swift. The village chief, the Mukhiya, finds the couple guilty of disrupting the balance. Bela's father, Mangatram, is admonished to keep a tighter rein on his daughter, while Rahul is condemned to a chilling fate – a death sentence for daring to love.
