Plot

In the tranquil rural landscapes of Genoa, Victoria, Australia, renowned psychoanalyst Dr. Samuel Franks is drawn back to his family roots. As he returns to bury his recently deceased father, Dr. David Franks, he finds himself entrapped in the echoes of his old family home, now a ghost house whispering tales of his past. It's here that he revisits one transformative summer of his adolescence, spent away from the confinements of his boarding school, where he formed a profound emotional bond with Silvy Lewis, a girl with a leg brace, whose spirit was as resilient as her physical challenges. In the nostalgia-laden air of Genoa, a mysterious encounter with an amnesiac woman named Ruby stirs the dormant memories of his youth. Ruby, with her enigmatic charm, seems eerily reminiscent of Silvy, stirring the waters of Sam's past and present. The narrative takes a turn as Sam finds himself lost in a labyrinth of the past, present, and a love lost. Underneath the Australian stars, he and Silvy once floated in a lake, sharing silent promises as they watched a star fall from the sky. It was in this very moment, in the depths of the starlit lake, that Silvy vanished, leaving Sam grappling with her inexplicable disappearance. Years later, as a psychologist, Sam's encounter with Ruby in his hometown stirs his buried emotions and reignites his quest to unravel the mystery that's haunted his past. Ruby's presence, mirroring his lost love, compels him to question if she could indeed be the Silvy he never stopped searching for, or if she's a manifestation of his yearning for closure. As the boundaries between past and present blur, Sam is left to decipher if Ruby is a link to his past, or a bridge to his future.
