Plot

In a tangled web of deceit, ambition, and misunderstood advice, Throw Momma from the Train (1987) unravels. Larry Donner, an aspiring author and devoted writing professor, finds himself trapped in a life of despair. His scheming ex-wife Margaret has claimed his masterpiece as her own, leaving him in the shadows of her undeserved fame and fortune. Among his students is the peculiar Owen Lift, a man burdened by his domineering and loathsome mother. Inspired by Larry's advice on crafting a murder mystery, a simple misunderstanding sends Owen spiraling into a dark path. He takes it upon himself to help Larry by eliminating Margaret, mistaking this for a solution to Larry's predicament. In a twisted turn of events, Owen proposes a chilling quid pro quo: he expects Larry, in return, to rid him of his monstrous mother. Larry initially brushes off Owen's proposition as a morbid joke, until the chilling realization dawns that Owen has indeed silenced his ex-wife, Margaret. Now, Larry's life takes an even darker turn as he's thrust into the spotlight, not for his literary genius, but as the prime suspect in a murder investigation. In this black comedy of errors, Larry must wriggle out of this predicament while contending with Momma Lift, an old woman proving far more formidable and resilient than anyone could have imagined. Throw Momma from the Train paints an unforgettable portrait of desperation, misunderstanding, and the sinister lengths some will go to escape their tormentors.
