Three Brothers (1981)

In the sun-drenched heart of southern Italy, an ancient farmhouse witnesses the end of an era as an elderly matriarch breathes her last. Her bereaved husband sends for their three sons, each entrenched in a different corner of life's battlefield. Raffaele, a Rome-based judge, grapples with a politically charged case that threatens his very existence. Rocco, a spiritual pillar in Naples, devotes his life to reforming wayward boys in a correctional institute, hoping to cleanse his city of its violent underbelly. Nicola, a factory laborer in Turin, finds himself amidst labor unrest, his heartache magnified by his estranged wife's absence. Upon their return to their childhood abode, each son is swept up in a tide of nostalgia, triggering a series of poignant reveries about their futures. Raffaele envisages the spectre of his potential demise, Rocco dreams of a Naples devoid of corruption and crime, and Nicola yearns for a tender reunion with his lost love.
