Plot

In the secluded realm of Skua, a petite island off the Scottish coast, resides the enigmatic Zelda, a young widow whose husband was swallowed by the sea, and her precocious 12-year-old daughter, Perdita. The island's inhabitants whisper tales of Zelda's witchcraft, though her sister, Annie, insists she's merely "different." Overwhelmed by her husband's absence, Zelda surrenders herself to the unforgiving sea. Suddenly, an inexplicable calamity strikes Skua as lobsters, the lifeblood of the island's commerce, vanish without a trace. The superstitious islanders attribute this misfortune to Zelda's wrath against the sea that stole her husband. Consequently, the innocent Perdita faces the brunt of their fear and prejudice. Ostracized from school, tormented by her peers, and stigmatized by the entire community, she must grapple with her challenging new reality as "the witch's daughter."
