Plot

In the midst of the chaos of World War II, Lieutenant Rip Crandall, a seasoned yachtsman, finds himself duped into commanding the most unconventional vessel in the Navy, the USS Echo. This ship is anything but ordinary, a bona fide junkyard on water with a motley crew of misfits whose nautical knowledge doesn't stretch beyond distinguishing port from starboard. The Echo and its crew are a joke to many, yet unbeknownst to them, they are entrusted with a top-secret mission of paramount importance. Beyond the veil of their comedic misadventures, they are to navigate treacherous waters swarming with Japanese warships. Their objective - a clandestine operation that, if successful, could save hundreds of allied lives. Lieutenant Crandall, his eccentric crew, and their decrepit ship are thrust into a mission far beyond their wildest expectations. The question remains: can they sail their way to success and survive the journey, or will their lack of experience and the ship's comedic inadequacies lead to their downfall? The fate of many hangs in the balance as the wackiest ship in the Army sets sail on an adventure teetering between hilarity and heroism.
